SELCA is pleased to announce that the valuable resource for IBCLCs and their clients, ZipMilk, is up and running for 2016. The Georgia Breastfeeding Coalition has partnered with ZipMilk.org, a website that provides listings for breastfeeding resources sorted by ZIP Code and was developed by the Massachusetts Breastfeeding Coalition. It is currently used by Massachusetts, North Carolina, Louisiana, New Jersey, and Wisconsin, with several other states in the pipeline. It is designed for use by consumers interested in breastfeeding help and support, as well as by providers who want to provide their clients access to such resources. The Georgia Breastfeeding Coalition will collect and maintain the data on ZipMilk for our state. The site is free for providers and consumers, and is also free of corporate influences.
We encourage you to visit the site, enter your information, and ask your colleagues to do the same. We also encourage you to promote ZipMilk in your communities. It is a great resource for classes, discharge materials, etc. We are doing great work in Georgia to increase the breastfeeding duration rates and our Board of Directors feels that ZipMilk can serve as an easy access point to critical professional and peer support. So please ‘get listed!’ If you have questions about ZipMilk, please contact us at GeorgiaZipMilk@gmail.com.
Here’s how it works:
- Go to www.ZipMilk.org
- Click “Submit a Listing”
- Follow the prompts to enter your information
- The Georgia ZipMilk administrators will review your listing and approve it or email you for clarification. You can expect your listing to be reviewed within 5-10 business days.
- Remember to come back and update your information as often as necessary by clicking “Update a Listing” at the bottom of the ZipMilk homepage, under “Contact.”
If you’d like to request a ZipMilk Starter Kit (with a magnet and 20 business cards), please send your mailing address to GeorgiaZipMilk@gmail.com
