1. Offer opportunities for mentorship to increase the number of Black women who can provide support to women of color and be knowledgeable about why these safe spaces are so important for women of color.
2. Know what resources exist in your communities and if no resources for black women exist, actively mentor black women who are interested in birth work to help create those resources
3. Work with existing not-for-profits, help raise funds and support them in their work by volunteering and/or supplying resources
4. Share information on SELCA scholarships and other opportunities available to people of color.
5. Be familiar with the statistics related to black women’s mortality and work within your facilities to be vigilant about responding to their care, listening to their needs, and increasing opportunities for them to access care and receive prenatal education.
6. Hire women of color. Mentor women of color in your workplace to help further their careers.
